Hyper Birrarung is a multimedia installation exploring our relationship with the Birrarung and the city. Reflecting on what it means to see in relation—relating the river not as an “other” within the urban landscape, but as a living entity with their own stories to tell. Central to the installation is a short film, the narrative follows someone seeing a strangely familiar cyber Birrarung on the internet, and as they question what they are witnessing, they gradually realise that their perception of the ancient river is shaped by their experience as a migrant.
